An all new Homecoming…

What’s old is new again… With an 8 month old, Baylor Homecoming was an entirely different experience. Fireworks and a bonfire at 9pm seemed like staying out late, and a 9am parade wasn’t as early as I remembered it. Balloons, floats, and the marching band widened our daughter’s eyes as she saw them all for the first time, and having her with us brought new meaning to “lighting the ways of time.“

Ellie Cate is growing so fast. At 7 months, we decided we needed some family pics. This ended up being both harder and easier than I thought. Harder, in that the more people you add to a self portrait (particularly adding a baby) the harder it is to get everyone set in the frame and then be creative at the same time. Easier, in that Ellie Cate is always doing something great, so there’s lots to capture once we get set. We started out in the nursery with a tutu Sarah bought when we found out we were having a girl, and we moved outside for family shots. Here are my favorites…

Green, literary, montessori, intentional, sustainable, worldly, counter-cultural… some of the words that I’d use to describe the Houston Heights home of our friends Sara and Matt. They’re planning a move to Austin and needed some shots for their listing. I couldn’t just snap some photos–I felt drawn to document the home they’d cultivated. Clearly, home is where the heart is.
